The SC Center for Rural and Primary Healthcare in collaboration with the South Carolina Office of Rural Health awarded 15 rural health clinics and practices with micro-grants
Small rural practices and clinics are an invaluable asset to rural communities, but are often faced with unique challenges due to locality. Rural practices may experience limited operational constraints due to barriers to technology, medical equipment and resources, or staff development. Typically, the issues in smaller practices and can be corrected with a small investment and yield a greater return evidenced by the improved health, quality of life, and productivity of the surrounding community. The micro-grant program exists to support rural providers in addressing these problems and increase capacity of practices to continue providing excellent care to rural patients.

- Micro-grants ranged from $500- $5000

- Upgraded office computers
- Laptops for use within exam room
- Mobile workstations for clinical teams
- Printer/fax machine
- Scanners
- Microsoft Office Suite
- Windows Pro licenses
- Training for staff ( i.e. Certified Diabetes Educator, Electronic Health Record)
- Digital phone systems
- Digital vital sign monitors
- Pulse Oximeters
- Digital scales
- POCT A1C machine
