The SC Center for Rural and Primary Healthcare supports and develops sustainable rural and primary care education and health care delivery in South Carolina through clinical practice, training and research. We strive for a future where all South Carolinians have access to high value, quality health care. A large part of the SC Center for Rural and Primary Healthcare's mission is accomplished through cooperative agreements and grants awarded to competitive applicants.

The CRPH has three core funding opportunities- iCARE, Strategic Workforce and Training, and Rural Innovations. Use the information below to get an overview of each program and determine which is a better fit for your project idea.
iCARE
Program Goal
Supports the expansion of clinical services to eliminate barriers to access to care
Example Projects
- Extending current services by increasing staffing capacity or expanding into new service areas
-Improving healthcare workforce retention in rural and/or underserved communities
-Using telehealth to increase the reach of quality patient care

The primary goal of your project is to provide direct clinical care to rural and/or underserved patients
Strategic Workforce & Training
Program Goal
Provides experiential learning and/or clinical training to expand the rural healthcare workforce
Example Projects
-Exposing graduate or undergraduate students to rural communities and their healthcare needs
-Implementing a new degree or certificate program to address rural healthcare worker shortages
Choose this program if...
The primary goal of your project is to provide trainings or to increase the health professions workforce
Innovations
Program Goal
Supports innovative strategies that aim to address unmet needs or improve rural health
Example Projects
-Improving access to healthcare services or enhancing the health professions workforce
-Implementing services and/or programs that promote improved health outcomes
-Integrating healthcare and community based programs

The primary goal of your project is to identify innovative solutions or best practices that can be adopted by other rural communities, expanded into a larger context, or informs public policy.
